Welcome to the G4CVU website.

G4CVU specialises in the manufacture of replacement parts for the restoration of the R1155 receiver and T1154 Transmitter.

Although this equipment was widely used in the heavy bombers and Air Sea resuce vessels of word war II it is probably best known amongst enthusaists for its use in the Lancaster Bomber. Here Two R1155's were used. One for the Navigator and one for the Wireless operator along with the T1154 Transmitter.

Approximately 80,000 were manufactured and at the end of the war the equipment was sold off as surplus and many found there way in to the hands of radio amateurs. Unfortunately many were modified with the DF circuitry first to go. Other mods included an S-Meter, speaker and internal power supply.

In the past restoration of this equipment has been daunting. Do you try and return it to original condition, or do you just get it working with whatever parts are easily obtainable? This site hopes to help the enthusiast restore the equipment to as near original as possible. We have several parts in manufacture that are almost impossible to find elsewhere. If we don't have it in manufature maybe our adverts section can help.

Good luck with your restoration. - 73's John

Case Retaining Screws

Case retaining screw for the T1154 transmitter. These case screws are 3/16 whitworth. Some cases were tapped 0BA. The Air Ministry found that the smaller threads were unreliable in use and so the later 3/16 whitworth was used. These screws come as a set of 10.
